LokiTalk
I haven't been so active here on my blog the last two years. I just don't feel inspired to write articles anymore. I like the short form posts better, similar to the experience on Twitter/X.
However, I dislike social media in general, so I decided to create my own social media website, LokiTalk. Loki is the intelligent rebel god of Norse mythology.
The triquetra logo (shown to the right) is an interesting symbol that has been used in many places across the world -- in paganism, Christianity and also in the far East.
With LokiTalk I set out to design the type of social media experience I would want to have myself. Free expression of ideas without censorship. Each user having full control over the feed algorithm. Focus on high quality sensible content instead of addictive outrage. And a simplified design with less details in the view.
It was created with Node/Express, PostgreSQL and Linux on the backend, and the self developed stack from my Athletium project on the client. This was quite a learning experience since I come from ASPX/C#, MSSQL and Windows Server, but ChatGPT and Grok helped to make this process a lot easier. I think these tools are indispensable when you learn new things and have lots of questions. They are less useful for writing actual code.
So from now on you can follow me through LokiTalk instead of this website. If you feel like commenting on my posts there, you can also create your own account, which is free for everyone.
